Fourth Grade artists were really, really excited to finally take their clay lions home! We began our lions WAY before Christmas break, but with many snow days and over 600 pieces to fire in our little kiln, the lions have been slow to finish. BUT well worth the wait, as you can see!

New Winter Art Projects from G-Town
The blustery cold weather has inspired our Georgetown artists to create some fun “wintery” projects. We are also starting our study and review of color, and these projects are reinforcing our understanding of color families such as primary and secondary colors, and warm/cool colors.
First grade artists are working on these nice warm/cool holiday trees.
Second grade artists are finishing up some awesome grinches, focusing on shading and warm/cool color combinations.
Third graders are enjoying exploring different color families as they create these colorful candy canes!
Fourth and Fifth grade artists created visual interest with line, shape, and color as they created their Nutty Nutcrackers.
Parents…these projects can be found on our on-line art gallery, ARTSONIA.
Kudos to these fellow art teachers for our project inspiration:

Snow Angels
Georgetown Fourth Grade Artists recently completed these beautiful Snow Angels. As they created their colorful angels, fourth graders focused on three art principles: pattern, emphasis, and balance. More student pieces from this project can also be found in our on-line art gallery, ARTSONIA.

My artists are discovering their artwork that I have uploaded to the Artsonia Kids’ Art Museum! They have been ordering mugs, shirts, and other items with their artwork printed on these items…and here’s the cool thing, part of the profits on the sale of items goes right back to the Georgetown Art Room.
One of my 4th Graders, Ellie, brought in her plaque that she ordered from Artsonia. Isn’t it cool!?
Still Celebrating Student Art Creations!
Even though the school year is winding down, we are still recognizing students who create outstanding pieces. Three of our Georgetown Elementary students have had their artwork selected for display in our Administration Building for the 2012-13 school year.
I’ve heard that the arrival of new student artwork each year at the Administration Building creates quite a buzz, with lots of good-natured competition amongst the staff as they choose their favorite pieces to display in their offices!
Congratulations to Second Grade artist Elaina, and Fourth Grade artists, Mackenzie and Emma!
