Fifth Graders Explore…Hundertwasser

Fifth grade artists have been exploring the work of Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser – an artist we call the Spiral Guy.  They were intrigued to learn that he never wore matching socks (too boring!) and that he designed toilets and bathrooms (fun discussions for 5th graders!).

Hundertwasser and his spiral art.

Fifth graders began by painting a background and adding texture.

They were then challenged to strike a dramatic or creative pose to add to their spiral flower landscape.  As everyone created their landscapes, I took photos of their fun poses…and our fabulous fifth graders worked themselves into their Hundertwasser landscapes.

You might say that they really got INTO their work!

Big thanks to Suffield Elementary Art Blog and Deep Space Sparkle for this project inspiration – Georgetown kiddos loved it!
