First Grader SARAH and Kindergartner KENSLEY have had their artwork selected for display in the Hudsonville School Administration Building at 3886 VanBuren Avenue in Hudsonville. Their work will be on display along with approximately 25 other pieces from students throughout the school district, and will remain up for viewing until June 2011.

Her artwork will be professionally framed and presented to a school board member for them to display at their office or home for the 2010-11 school year. Aubrey’s framed artwork will be returned to her at the end of the 2011 school year.
Art In The Park Selections!!

Hudsonville’s Art In The Park will be held on Saturday, June 12 from 9AM – 3PM at 3284 Chicago Drive in Hudsonville. The event includes an art and crafts show, student art display, performing arts, live broadcasting from JQ99, and food vendors. Art in The Park will include opportunities for children to explore art with hands-on activities and to meet local artists. We are excited to have our Georgetown artists be a part of this event! Hi LOve your blog which you kindly left a link on Painted Paper. I am curious about the two projects above
the ones of the van Gogh starry night and the other one Tree in the park- Could you email me with a very brief overview of the materials etc and the artist – materials for the second one.

You bet, Cheryl – info is coming your way! For the rest of you – the Van Gogh Starry night focused on visual texture and was a simple sharpie marker drawing project with watercolor added over the sharpie. The “Tree in the Park” project focused on the use of warm colors. We looked at Paul Klee’s “Park near Lucerne” for inspiration. The black lines are done with India Ink, and the color is acrylic – although I’ve used plain tempera paints too with good results.
